This guy sounds spineless. Dude's daughter is trying to boss him around and he needs to ask the internet whether or not he's a meanie for saying no. You aren't punishing her in any way, just setting the ground rules for your equipment in your house. It should be a no-brainer but the fact that you need to get validation from Reddit is exactly why your kid doesn't respect your authority.
I'm gen z but holy sh!t too many parents are just complete pushover crybabies. Millennials are so afraid of being the bad guy, they don't want to get anywhere near being percieved as the aşshole authority they've hated their whole lives. Put your damn foot down.
First world problems.
NTA. Give her a reason and tell her to knock it off. Your house and all. Children don't get to make the rules.
Who paid for the tv…? End of story.
How dare anyone in the family touch the family TV. You're an asshole
I’m old & hate the new TVs. I miss the old ones that always worked & all you had to worry about was what channel to watch.
Take it down and tell her ass to buy it and set it up
No U bought it not her she should not be able to mess with your TV Because U were the one who bought it, NOT her
No!
When you go to work or leave the room, take the remote with you.
discussing logic with 2 women .. of course it's your fault
Divorce u know
… just tell her to turn the brightness back up when she's done? This power struggle is completely unnecessary and weird.
NTA. Who bought the TV? OP did. It's OP's TV, so daughter needs to leave the settings alone. That can't be the only TV in the house. When I was a child during the 1960's, there was only 1 TV in the house. That was normal. Now, just about every room has a TV. Even the kitchen and garage.
Yeah you bought it and she is a child she can not watch it at all or watch it as is!!! Ppl today are so a..backwards
So why can’t she reset them after she’s done watching TV? Why do you have to reset it? I guarantee when she pays for something in her house she sure won’t want people messing with it or not putting it back to the way she had it prior to them using it. Honestly it’s sad that your wife isn’t sticking by your side. If she had a problem, she should’ve talk to you privately not let your daughter know about it that’s why children play one parent to the other at any age.
Too f**** bad for them. And next year say audios.
Q: who bought?
If you bought for the living room and for the family you’re kinda the jerk. She’s offering a solution you could tell her if she’s going to change them then she has to change them back. And also if her changing settings is a problem you’re not tech savvy sorry. Do you really want the electric bill increase by the lights having to be on as well as tv. Are you prepared to not be upset if the lights keep You up? Family room tv should mean family gets to use it.
Your TV, your rules, but if she has a disease so the TV had to be dark at night, (which prob doesn’t exist) then it is different, but otherwise, she shouldn’t change it
Tell her to buy her own TV for on her room.
She can either change it back once she's done or leave it alone
No
