  2. I know it may maybe asking too much, but you could make some pro-mode versions of camera reviews. Then, we could see the camera differences beyond the usual "point and shoot" when compared to other ones. For Xiaomi, especially, I think the pro camera is better than the Samsung or iPhone on getting details and everything else

  3. Thank you for the videos. What would you do, go for Vivo X100 pro or hope Xiaomi will fix all software problems with the cameras? I see so much potential in Xioami 14 Ultra, but Vivo pictures are amazing.

  4. Hi, thank you for this review!
Can I ask you – did you hear some weird buzzing sound in the phone that you used for the review like there is something broken or detached in the camera? I got the blue chinese version and I can hear it.

  5. very very very nice video overall, you went in depth for everything, thank you

would really love to see a comparison of those chinese phone, magic 6 pro vs 14 ultra vs x100 pro maybe ? or against oneplus 12 (since x100 pro is, we know it, the best overall lol)

  6. The Xiaomi has three major imaging drawbacks vs the Vivo I can see:
    1. lenses are not as good – the Xiaomi is using some plastic lens elements it seems, so even though faster they are not as precise as the zeiss glass lenses
    2. colour science and exposure in Zeiss is debatably more pleasing to most people
    3. V3 chipset really leverages computation power in image processing. Vivo are treading a fine line in the sharpening, but they arguably get it right

  7. No recording calls agghhh, i loved that on my vivo x90pro plus, the only reason I'm updating is I'm in UK and my calls on my Chinese vivo x90 pro plus sometimes break up and i have to reset phone to get it working properly again, what's the calls like on this Chinese xiaomi

  8. The 'high brightness mode' is actually called 'Sunlight mode' in the Display & brightness settings, but you have to turn off the Auto brightness for it to show up. I did see tech bloggers on Chinese social media able to measure around 1000 nit full-screen brightness when turning on Sunlight mode and displaying full-screen white background (the color of what the screen is displaying does affect the peak brightness a lot, at least that's how everyone does screen testing in China). It is possible to achieve above 2000 nit brightness by triggering HDR content display in a small white window (10% area I guess) on screen, but it doesn't matter much for practical use.
For the description of firmware update, what is shown in English doesn't always represent the whole content, at least that's the case for Chinese ROM (not 100% sure if it is still like this for the most recent HyperOS). I discovered this minor issue a couple years ago because I switch the system language between Chinese and English a lot for different purposes. I guess they just don't bother translating all of the Chinese update description into English if it is not a major update, it only happened occassionally.
Xiaomi has been lowering the sharpening in their photo processing ON PURPOSE since Mi 12S Ultra, intending to remove the trace of 'digital overprocessing' as much as possbile, since that's what the users can do themselves by editing the photos, but you can't really reverse the oversharpening if it is done in the first place within the camera. So up to this date, the photos from Xiaomi's flagship phones are the most soft-looking ones in all of the major phone brands. In fact, the zoom capability of Vivo's flagship relies heavily on AI. There have been multiple incidents reported on Chinese social media in which people use X 100 Pro to take photos on live concert, the phone tried really hard to 'guess' the performer/singer's face in super long range zoom shots but ended up drawing a face that was completely different from how the singer looked like. There were even some people comparing both Mi 14 Ultra and X 100 Pro at the same time, even though Xiaomi's photos were less sharp, but the face in those photos was still recognizable.
