Thanks. I am thinking to purchase the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It will be my first foray into Google's world of smartphones. I've been using Xiaomi until now. One reason is, over 50% of any smartphone purchase decision is for the smartphone-based camera technology. The Xiaommi 14 Ultra just released in spring of this year is one of the world's first for incorporating a 1" sensor and also because they created a partnership with Leica of Germany. Most cameras use smaller sensors which are not as efficient for light gathering, details, etc, and the German maker Leica is world famous for their lenses.
I've used Xiaomi now through several generations. However the reason to consider Google now is, with regard to Chinese manufacturers increasingly one needs to consider whether there will be a global release of a model versus a China domestic only ( = No Google Play services, ecosystem, etc.). To make a long story short, I am going to try the 9 Pro XL as my first Google product. Other considerations are 7 year support, something I don't think I could expect from Xiaomi. The fact that Google also makes Android OS. As such they know it best and as such will incorporate the basic plain vanilla version of Android into their phones versus tweaks and modifications to Android as done by OEMs. That is not necessarily a bad thing depending on which OEM, OnePlus, Samsung, etc., but still a consideration.
As an aside, you might want to consider doing in-depth reviews of smartphone-based camera technology such like GSMarena, mrwhostheboos, and others do. Many people make a purchase decision as I do just based on smarphone-based camera technology factor alone and could care less about color, texture, etc. I'm pragmatic in my considerations. Surely there are other considerations as well like the communications Wifi chip, CPU, AI, ad infinitum. Otherwise all smartphones can make calls and not much else to think about. Anyway FWIW my 2-cents worth. Cheers, TokyoJerry.
